FOR POST AND ACADEMY DIRECTORS AND TRAINERS WHO MISSED THE IADLEST CONFERENCE!
Law enforcement officers must master a diverse knowledge and skill set in order to effectively enforce the law. Comprehensive academy training includes many facets to ensure that law enforcement officers are properly trained in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. Unlike many other subjects taught in the cognitive domain, the legal aspects of law enforcement are a complicated and constantly evolving area of study. Developing and maintaining legally defensible curricula requires considering special issues unique to this area of study. In this presentation which was originally delivered at the 2019 IADLEST Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bruce-Alan Barnard will explore the most significant of these unique considerations.
